The summer haven for artists--Monhegan Island--located ten miles off the coast of Maine, will be the setting for a series of oil and pastel workshops conducted by four experienced artists under the direction of Jerry Cable. Besides Cable, artists Margaret Farrell Bruno, Trisha Vergis, and Ty Hodanish will be serving as instructors. Artist and workshop coordinator, Cable has been painting on Monhegan Island for more than 10 years. His island studio will be the gathering place for evening discussions and critiques. Topics for the evening sessions will also include marketing and promotion for professional artists. Cable is a graduate of Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY, and works out of his studio in Stockton, NJ, for the remainder of the year. His painting career spans more than 25 years, capturing the spirit of the landscape in rural America and the seafaring history along the coast of Maine. His paintings are luminous and alive with details that reveal a truth and understanding of his subjects. His unique style of oil painting combines a tranquility of light often associated with the great American painters of the 19th century while his use of impressionism brings a unique personality to each of his works.
